European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATiP)

PTEPA is an active member of the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATiP). The EATiP is an international non-profit association dedicated to developing, supporting, and promoting aquaculture in Europe, with a strong focus on technology and innovation. Its main goals include building a solid connection between aquaculture and consumers, ensuring a sustainable aquaculture industry, and strengthening the role of aquaculture in society.

EATiP brings together members of the European aquaculture value chain, from suppliers and producers to processors, along with leading research groups and representative organizations.

The Vision

The vision of the European aquaculture industry is to produce 4.5 million tons of sustainable food products annually by 2030, with a value of €14 billion, and generate more than 150,000 direct jobs.

EATiP Members

Companies, institutions, universities, associations, federations, organizations, and observers with a declared and professional interest in the sustainable development of European aquaculture.

Actions

EATiP participates in European projects, organizes forums on current topics, and organizes events that seek to boost innovation in aquaculture.

Spanish Network of Blue Growth Knowledge Spaces (REBECCA)

The Spanish Network of Blue Growth Knowledge Spaces (REECCA) is a tool for learning and interaction between knowledge spaces; a channel for information, communication, and dissemination of activities carried out to contribute to the transfer of knowledge within the framework of the blue growth strategy. Its management and promotion are the responsibility of the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Management of the General Secretariat of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Fisheries (MAPA).

Blue Growth Knowledge Spaces are structures that act as catalysts for progress toward a blue economy more grounded in the fishing and aquaculture sector, as well as the processing and marketing of its products.

Circular Economy Interplatform WG

The Spanish Technology Platform for Fisheries and Aquaculture is part of the Interplatform Group on the Circular Economy, an initiative to identify R&D opportunities for the adoption of the concept of industrial symbiosis in strategic industrial sectors in Spain, as a first step in the transition toward a circular economy. Moving toward a circular and resource-efficient economy has become one of the strategic objectives of the European Union.

In June 2014, the Technology Platforms Planeta, SusChem-Spain, Food for Life Spain, the Spanish Water Technology Platform, PLATEA, and MANU-KET decided to create the Interplatform Group on the “Circular Economy,” aimed at exploiting the potential of innovation and collaboration between strategic industrial sectors in Spain to advance toward a circular and resource-efficient economy. At the beginning of 2016, it was determined that the incorporation of new technology platforms would be extremely beneficial, given that many sectors can contribute to this change in model.

This Group is currently made up of 20 Spanish Technology Platforms, which work to promote the implementation of European and Spanish strategies in the field of the Circular Economy by promoting research and innovation activities, as well as launching collaborative projects within the framework of national and international programs.

Following the preliminary phase of group formation and objective setting, an online tool, “Connecting for a Circular Economy,” was developed so that users can publish and consult information on waste generated by other users in different industrial sectors, which can also be used as raw material for other processes. The tool allows users to consult information on technology providers aimed at their recovery and reuse.

The promotion of the Circular Economy is included in European and national research and innovation initiatives and strategies such as:

Thus, the promotion of the Circular Economy is included in the priorities of various European and national funding programs and calls for proposals, such as LIFE, H2020, the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016, and the smart specialization strategies of various autonomous communities.

Grupo Interplataformas Agroalimentarias

The Interplatform Agro-Food Group (GIA) is composed of BIOVEGEN, the Wine Technology Platform, Vet+i, PTEPA, and Food for Life-Spain.

Its mission is to identify common project priorities among the partners and to organise joint events and workshops on key aspects of the national agri-food sector.

The synergies and collaborations between the various PTs in the agri-food and fisheries sectors (information exchange, joint R&D proposals, partner searches, joint events, etc.) have led to the creation of a Food Platforms Working Group, to institutionalize the existing relationship, make it more visible, and enhance the various synergies.

Group objectives

Promote, maintain, and strengthen synergies between Technology Platforms and interested entities, in order to offer greater service to participants in the various Technology Platforms and facilitate joint connections within the food sector for the development of their R+D+I activities.
